Japanese young parliamentarians visit China

At the invitation of the China Association for International Exchange, a delegation of five young Japanese parliamentarians, headed by the Liberal Democratic Party member of the House of Representatives Mr. Hideaki Shigeaki, visited Beijing from December 5th to 9th.
On the 7th, Li Yuanchao, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice chairman of the country, met with the delegation at the Great Hall of the People. During the meeting, Li Yuanchao said that the long-term stable and healthy development of Sino-Japanese relations conforms to the fundamental interests of the two peoples. Both sides should promote the development of Sino-Japanese relations on the basis of the four political documents of Sino-Japanese relations and the four-point consensus reached by both sides in the spirit of ¡°taking history as a mirror and facing the future¡±. It is hoped that Japanese young politicians will proceed from a strategic and long-term perspective and contribute to the improvement and development of Sino-Japanese relations. Ai Ping, the former Deputy Minister of the United Nations Liaison Department and Vice Chairman of the Exchange Association, Ni Jian, Secretary-General of the Exchange Association, and Liu Kaiyang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Association attended the meeting.
On the 6th, the delegation attended the "Symposium on Promoting Mutual Understanding and Cooperation between China and Japan" sponsored by the Association for Exchanges. Li Jun, Assistant to the Assistant Minister of the Joint Liaison Department and Consultant of the Exchange Association, attended and addressed. Experts from the Development Research Center of the State Council, the China Institute of Contemporary International Relations, the Japan Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences, the China Academy of International Studies, and the International Trade and Economic Cooperation Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce attended the symposium. Li Shihong, deputy director of the National Tourism Administration, met with the delegation. The two sides stated that they must strengthen tourism cooperation. The delegation also conducted in-depth exchanges with the Department of International Finance of the Ministry of Finance, Beijing Chaoyang District People's Congress and China International Youth Exchange Center, and visited Beijing Xinfadi Agricultural Products Co., Ltd. and Beijing Qiubi Foods Co., Ltd.
The delegation stated that this visit has enhanced mutual understanding, deepened the overall understanding of China¡¯s current political and economic situation, and is willing to continue its efforts to play an active role in the healthy and stable development of China-Japan relations.
